Favourite Song: Plants and Animals ‘Lightshow’

There is a certain Tom Petty or even Bob Dylan feeling to Plants and Animals, this relaxed 60s songwriter feeling, with a very beautiful guitar in the background and I do remember that they do have quite a few different styles under their belts, given that the single “Bye Bye Bye” from their 2008 album “Parc Avenue” was a lot different than most of the lovely Americana songs of their new album “The End of that” but they still manage to break out now and then as in “Song for love” that doesn’t give one hint that it will deter from its smooth roadmovie-tune and become a little bit panicky.

Their first single “Lightshow” is absolutely mindblowing but a slow burner, I listened to it the first time and thought “yeah, nice” and then it came upon me the second time and I was completely blown away. I have no idea why it took two plays but it’s insanely awesome (reminds a little of Waters in the despaired intensity). It’s one of those songs you need to hear after bad news, so you can sob your way through it and hopefully get some catharsis out of it.
