Do you know the feel (bro?) when you listen to music and don’t know whether it’s actually good or just hit the right spot because you’re in a weird mood? I was wondering the same when I dived into George Kamel’s album “The Great Coward” which I felt compelled to listen to because it has a lion with glasses on the album cover.
But by the third track (“Found my way”) with it’s banjo tinge and spiritual clapping I knew that I probably could trust my inner music nerd and open up to this truly beautiful piece of music.
The album is yet another argument for kicktstarter as it got funded through it and boy, can we be happy that it worked because the result is a very tender and imaginative singer/songwriter album with many influences from relaxed 70s to churchy folk. It’s quite calm and I gotta say, one of the calmest albums I’ve listened to since ages, something you drift away to.
George is from Boston and seems to be dabbling with everything (writing, photography, videos and being very meaningful about all of it) and that’s ok, as long as he does it that well.
