Quickie: Har Mar Superstar is a serious contender for best big-belly-dancing

I don’t know what it is with big-bellied men with soul-voices but they sure like to shed their clothes and show that hairy belly of theirs. Since King Khan revolutionized the funk-music with an insane energy on stage and some outrageously kinky lyrics, Har Mar Superstar (also known as Sean Matthew Tillmann) seems to be the American (King Khan is from Canada) version and more home to the soul and less to the funky side of the 60s. His latest release is called “Bye bye 17” and features the amazing single “Lady, you shot me” which is just as entertaining as the rest of the album but also gives the main theme (musically and lyrically), so there won’t be any surprises after this spectacularly fun intro.

It might not be a coincidence that he looks both like Ron Jeremy AND Jon Lovitz’ cartoon character from “The Critic”. By the way, one youtube-commentator mentions that he sang this song’s last notes whilst doing a neck stand. Gotta love dedication to a performance like that.

    1. Haha, well, as long as soul is involved I hardly ever wince but I have the same thing with artists like Antony and the Johnsons, so I know what you mean.
