Lazy Sunday: Beer art

I am a haptic person which means that I – for example – move a lot around when I am telling a story (I call it “doing the Kermit’), learn better when I walk around the room and always have something in my hands to fiddle around with in any given situation. Because nowadays everyone is a communications expert (thanks modern crime-series that serve up half-assed communication-theory, I am looking at you, Tim Roth!), a lot of people assume that I do this because I am nervous. Well, I am not, I just work that way.

Anyways, because of that, every beer-bottle is in danger of getting stripped off which now and then results in some impressive artwork whenever I am a little bored. Yeah, communication-experts, it’s not being nervous, it’s being really really bored by your lame pub-conversation.

  1. I get the impression that people tend to project their own feelings or maybe just their expectations on other people.
I can hardly count the number of times I’ve been told “Wow, you seemed really angry just then, I was actually a little scared”, or “Man, you look really done in, had a hard day?” or “Wow, you’re in a good mood today, aren’t you?” or stuff like that, and I have no idea what they’re talking about.
I stopped contradicting them, though, because they don’t believe me anyway.

    1. Yeah, the more you try to tell them that they’re wrong, the more they will believe that they are right because “the lady doth protest too much”.

      1. I’m not sure if it’s a good idea from a quest-for-knowledge kind of view, but for peace of mind, I try to keep interaction with people who openly contradict my claims about my own mental state to a minimum.

  2. So Nessie is just beer label art? Wow!

You are so much more productive than my tendency to disassemble and re-assemble ball point pens. I don’t notice I’m doing it until a spring flies across the room.

Haptic? It’s a little embarrassing to learn about my native language from a non-native speaker … but still kinda cool.
